  Wheelchair access

side gatechair-sign

IF YOU are visiting the museum in a wheelchair or have mobility problems you can avoid the steps up to the main door of the museum.

There is a side access to the left of the front door (pictured) with a bell push to attract the attention of the volunteer on duty inside the museum.

They can unlock the gate by remote control and watch you on closed circuit television to make sure you gain access to the museum safely.

Inside the gate, there is a door marked with the wheelchair symbol. A second door inside that one allows access to the Millennium Gallery on ground level. From the foyer of the gallery a gentle ramp leads up to the main galleries of the museum. There is a toilet for the use of the public - offering access for the disabled - in the entrance area of the Millennium Gallery. There is a second toilet further inside the museum at the top of the gentle ramp.

The Joseph Heler room - used for the occasional exhibition or other event, or hired to the public - is at the top of a flight of stairs. We are sorry, but there is no wheelchair access to this room.

lDetails about wheelchair access to other Nantwich tourist attractions, facilities and venues can be found in a leaflet "Welcome to Nantwich", published by the Disability Resource Exchange (tel 01270 501535), obtainable from Nantwich Tourist Information Centre, Civic Hall, Market Street, Nantwich. Tel: 01270 537359.
