Community support

It's your money that keeps us going

THE Museum is dependent on a variety of sources of funds to continue its work - and we

gratefully acknowledge all the support we receive from the community, ranging from regular

grants from local authorities, through to individuals who join the Museum Trust.

Local businesses also provide regular financial support as Patrons.

There are also gifts, such as from the two Rotary Clubs (below), or from individuals or families

in memory of loved ones or to mark some special occasion.

WE were very pleased to receive a cheque for £800 from Crewe and Nantwich Weaver Rotary Club to support Holly Holy Day workshops for local schoolchildren and the Museum's education work in general.

We are very grateful for the club's support of our efforts - including our flag day in The Square on August 7.

The cheque presentation (pictured) was made by Stephen Welch, the immediate past president of the Rotary Club, to Allison Kirk, then Community Learning Officer at the Museum, at one of the last events she conducted before leaving us. Children from Wybunbury School Year 4 were present having just enjoyed a Tudor session at the Museum.

The Holly Holy Day workshops, which form part of the annual commemoration of the Battle of Nantwich, are run in close collaboration with the Holly Holy Day Society and members of the Sealed Knot help with the school sessions, bringing weaponry and costumes.

THE Museum is delighted to have received a cheque for £1,500 from the Rotary Club of Nantwich.

Anne Wheeler (centre) said: “I had only just started as Curator, so this was a great way to celebrate my first week.

"We are very grateful to the Rotary Club of Nantwich as money is much needed to replace and upgrade many of our IT and office facilities – some of which we may keep for the museum as pieces of historic interest!”

Chairman of the Museum Trust, Robert Stones said: “The Museum is a very important part of the local community in Nantwich, which is much visited by both tourists and locals – particularly the local schools. We depend on local organisations such as the Rotary Club of Nantwich and local businesses for their support and all donations are very, very welcome.”
