WINNERS in the three age groups in the Young
Wildlife Photographers competition, staged in conjunction with the
Animal Art Adventure exhibition, assembled in the Millennium Gallery of
the Museum on Saturday, August 27, 2011.
Unfortunately, three were not able to be
present. One was 13-year-old Lewis Butters who, as well as winning first
prize in the 12-16 category, received the prize for the best overall
photograph in the competition - a book on digital photography donated by
Nantwich Book Shop. But his grandmother, Mrs Muriel Dale, was on hand to
collect his prizes.
The competition was staged by the RSPCA
and the Museum.
Kate Dobson, the Community
Learning Officer, welcomed the winners and their families and said the
Museum had been pleased to be able to display all the entries in the
competition.
She introduced the judges – Rob Scrivens
from the RSPCA at Stapeley Grange, Nantwich, and Brian Sankey, Treasurer
of Nantwich Camera Club. The judges told the entrants what they had been
looking for in selecting the winning pictures, and gave tips on taking
pictures of wildlife.
David Fishburne, Immediate Past
President of the Rotary Club of Nantwich – who had donated prizes -
congratulated the winners and entrants on a superb display of
photographs in the Community Gallery exhibition. He hoped the
competition would build in future years as more and more people took
part.
Also present at the ceremony was Bob
Llewellyn, Chairman of Youth Activities for the Rotary Club of
Nantwich.
