Fiona, Jack and Josh Swain in a variety
of costumes for flag day. Josh is holding a fiddle drill, an
agricultural implement. Seeds tumble from the sack into the disc which
is rotated by moving the "fiddle bow" left and right, scattering the
seed into the furrows in a field as the farm worker walks along.

Flag day raises money for funds
VOLUNTEERS from the Museum took to Nantwich
Square on Saturday, August 6, for the annual flag day.
As well as collectors in a
variety of costumes, we had an Information Point giving news of
exhibitions and other Museum activities. There was also a display of
mystery objects which visitors to the stall were invited to name.
Although, as a registered
charity, we are fortunate to receive grants from Cheshire East Council
and Nantwich Town Council, this is not enough to cover all our costs and
we rely on the support of Museum Trust Members and other local
people to help maintain this important and vibrant facility, the
Museum.
The flag day helps towards the
income.
The day's total collection
was £299.94. Unfortunately it's not
quite as much as last year' record-breaking amount, but every penny
counts.
Museum volunteer Barrie Astbury explains
a mystery object to two visitors to the Museum's Information Point.
