The paintings of Herbert St John Jones

High Street buildings

These buildings in High Street, Nantwich, were demolished in 1872. They stood on what is now The Square, in front of St Mary's Parish Church. The Butter Market - on the spot where the two horsemen are standing - had already been demolished in 1868. The buildings on the left are now shops facing the church. They can be clearly seen in a photograph of the area from the early 1860s.
